A view of a slightly unrockstar life.

About M!K3

Hello, I’m Michael J. Carrasquillo, the creative & production force behind “The Trials of Being M!K3″ video podcast. I was born in the Bronx borough of New York City on June 5th [year intentionally removed] at Jacobi Hospital’s Behavioral Health Center (just kidding).  According to my mother I was a nice quite happy kid, never a problem. Those who know me and have heard that story fiercely disagree that I was ever capable  of that. My mother now asks me often what the hell happened…”Trials…” has been around since Fall of 2005 and is used as an outlet to draw attention to issues I find mildly annoying or humorus. My goal is to make it part real footage and part set up (for narrative purposes). I consider myself an active member in the videoblogging community and produce another video blog called Wastin’ Time w/ ATOMIC BROTHER, which follows the ups and downs of being a local New York City band!

I’ve been in and out of the music business for over 15 years. Working for record companies (TVT, WEA, INTERSCOPE) and eventually removed myself from that and became the live touring drummer of Slick Idiot; a band consisting of EN ESCH & Guenter Shulz (formerly of KMFDM fame). I had fun with that project as it gave me the ability to meet wonderful people/fans.

I’ve always been interested in the film/video/motion picture medium. I’ve always wanted to explore it and now that the technology is available, I’ve been thriving in this area of my life.  In 2005 I took a hobby and turned it into a professional freelance video editor/filmmaker career. Some of my current work projects include, R. Kelly’s Grammy nominated “Trapped in the Closet” DVD (Chapters 1-12 and 13-22). I am working on a Bachelor’s degree in Film at Brooklyn College. I’m fortunate to have been able to work with many great people in many great opportunities. I enjoy traveling, small towns, the fall season, sunsets, peak early morning sunrises, filming things with my PANASONIC P2 HD Camera, and spending time with family…Feel free to contact me any time.
